Blogmas – Day 26 – Head Massage

Posted on Updated on

As it was Christmas yesterday, there’s a real chance that there could be some pounding heads today. Here’s some key points on how to give the perfect head massage, hopefully this will help you feel better – we’ll type it quietly.

1. Massage the head. Step back behind the recipient and loosen his or her hair if it is restrained. Bring your hands, with fingers spread, to the sides of the head, fingers pointing up. Use a light pressure and slowly move the hands up with a shampooing-like motion, trying to keep the heel of the hands in contact with the scalp as well as the fingers.

    • Once you reach the top of the head, allow the fingers to rise off while maintaining a gentle traction from the heels of the hands. Now lower your hands and move them around to a different area of the head. Repeat four or five times, covering the entire scalp.

2. Rub the scalp. Bring one hand to the volunteer’s forehead for stability as you place the heel of the other hand in contact with back of the head. Begin rubbing the scalp by moving your rear hand vigorously back and forth. Continue rubbing as much of the scalp as you can reach, and then switch hands and repeat on the other side.

3. Briskly rub the scalp all over with just the fingertips of both hands. Continue this for about a minute.

4. Stroke your fingers through your recipient’s hair from the top of the forehead back. Let the final strokes draw their head back slightly and then lay the fingers over the forehead and draw the fingers down and along the brow line to each temple, making small circles over the temples. Repeat this process three times

5. Finish up. With smooth strokes beginning at the forehead, slowly work your way to the back of the head. Do this for about a minute, allowing the pressure to become lighter towards the end, until finally your hands float off the head.

Blogmas – Day 22 – Massage Bars

Posted on Updated on

Have you heard about massage bars? They’re a brilliant way to give your muscles a good massage, without having to spend loads of money at a Spa. Que Bella are currently looking at developing our own range of massage bars, to help relax your muscles, or to wake them up.wiccy

Here’s just a couple we’ve found that are great:

From Lush

Wiccy Magic Muscles contains a warming blend of cinnamon and peppermint essential oils that are said to stimulate the circulation to warm and loosen up stiff, achy muscles. These essential oils are blended with Fair Trade organic cocoa butter and shea butter as well as organic jojoba oil and extra virgin coconut oil to sink into the skin. Use the smooth side all over the body, then turn it over and use the knobbly aduki beans on any particularly stubborn knots.

From Skinchanted

This deep, rich woody scent has notes of Italian Bergamot, Apple Wood and Tonka Bean to round out the darker, more sensuous Patchouli, Cedarwood, and Oakmoss. To keep this fragrance from smelling like a freshly cut wood floor, we’ve added spices of Cardamom, Vanilla Bourbon and allspice.

Let us know what you think if you’ve tried massage bars before…

Posted on Updated on

Let’s catch up on blogmas – days 19-21. Here’s some super easy ‘Spa at Home’ tips to get ychocou ready for the festive season.

1. Moisturise – This may seem really obvious, but to make your skin feel like you’ve just had the ultimate ‘spa at home’ experience, make sure that after every treatment we’ve suggested throughout blogmas, you moisturise your skin.

2. Treat Day – Ok, so when you go to a spa, the meal you tend to get is balanced, healthy and great for your skin. But  sometimes, you just need a little treat day. Take one day easheet masquech month as your treat day and indulge in your favourite, naughtiest treat – we suggest a chocolate fondant with some ice cream, delicious…

3. Face Mask Sheet – Sheet masks are becoming more and more popular at spas, and luckily for you – Que Bella have developed out own affordable ‘spa at home’ version. Blogmas – Day 17 – Spa Music Ideas

Posted on

Generally when you think of spas the music that comes to mind is panpipes, flutes and woodwind type instruments. These are great for relaxing the mind and letting you wind down, but there’s nothing set in stone saying that this has to be your relaxation music. There’s a world of music out there to explore… When you’re having your next spa at home evening why not try a bit of jazz, some mellow folk or some acoustic guitar music. Sit back, relax and let the music wash away your troubles.

Enjoy!

Blogmas – Catch Up Days

Posted on

spaI am sure you are all aware that the last few days of Blogmas have been missed. We’ve been super busy getting all our new and exciting products ready for the shelves, so unfortunately the Blogmas schedule has slipped – the new products will make this worthwhile though – I promise!!

So to catch us up (and to not miss out on the lovely little Spa At Home Tips) here’s a brief look at days 10-14.

1. Deep Hair Conditioner – Make your hair feel silky smooth – just blend 1/2 an Avocado with 1 egg yolk and spread on hair. Leave for 10 minutes and rinse off – instant beautiful hair.

2. Take a Bath – A shower may be more practical, but sometimes you just need a nice, warm bath to relax in and forget the day’s troubles. Run a bath with your favourite essential oil, light a couple of candles and lie back and relax. Make sure you’ve prepared for after (see Blogmas day 9).

3. Foot Treatment – As with our hands, we have to prepare our feet before that perfect pedicure. 3 quick tricks, exfoliate with a sugar scrub, bath your feet in warm water for 5 minutes, moisturise. Your feet are now ready to be made beautiful.

4. Face Steam – Sometimes our faces need a more delicate treatment, we spend hours each week applying various liquids, powders and scrubs – for skincare and beauty purposes. Once a week, give your skin a rest. Fill a bowl with boiling water (very careful not to burn yourself), hold your head around 30cm above the water, place a towel over your head and the bowl and leave the steam to work wonders for around 5 minutes.

5. Beauty Sleep – It might sound obvious, but one of the best things we can do for our skin and our health is get a good night’s sleep. Create the perfect spa environment, lie back, relax and let yourself drift off. Repeat this at least once a week and you will notice how much better you feel.qb signature blog

1. Most importantly – remove previously applied nail varnish.

2. Bath your hands in a bowl of warm water for no longer than 3 minutes.

3. Trim any nails that need cutting – but careful not to go too short.

4. Moisturise with your favourite moisturiser, gently massaging your hands.

5. Leave for at least 10 minutes for the moisturiser to sink into the skin and start working.

You’re then ready for your manicure. Keep an eye out for the Que Bella Beauty upcoming Manicure Blogmas post later in December.

Blogmas – Day 2 – Creating the Spa Environment

Posted on Updated on

canles For Blogmas day 2 – we’re going to suggest ways to make the perfect spa environment in your home.

There are a few key points to look at when creating the right environment to spa your day away. The room needs to be welcoming, relaxing and warm – where you can feel entirely comfortable, with no risk of interruption. Here’s an idea of how to make your spa room:

1. Turn off your phone.

2. Draw the curtains.

3. If it’s the winter-time, turn up the heating.

4. Light the candles – these can be scented to your preference, or unscented.

5. Play some relaxing, chilled out music that you enjoy – this doesn’t have to be whales or panpipes, but something you feel you can relax to.

6. Sit back, relax and enjoy your selection of spa-at-home treatments. – Check out Que Bella products, for the ultimate affordable spa at home products.qb signature blog
